Symptom

  • On SAP BW / ASE systems, access to Infocubes during Process Chains / Data Loads fails.
  • Corresponding error in the ASE errorlog for this timestamp is:

Error 8419: Could not find index descriptor for objid 1537046572, indid 4 in dbid 4.

This error is accompanied by a stack trace referencing the functions :

ind_rowcopy
st_ncind_fill_tscalc
st_readtabstats
st_getstats
qry_init_stats

  • reorg rebuild of the indexes on the affected table does not clear the error
  • increasing the number of open index descriptors does not help
