2920221 - Excel Import into CDM with Barker notation, entities are not reused for nested subtypes - SAP PD

Symptom

  • I've imported a Barker CDM from Excel, and there are problems when linking an entity to the list of subtypes. It cannot create a hierarchy more than two levels deep, because it always creates a new entity for each of the listed subtypes.
  • When importing an Excel file into a Conceptual Data Model (CDM) using Barker notation, the entity subtypes are not imported as expected. New entities are created for entity hierarchies more than two levels instead of reusing the existing entities.

For example - the Excel file includes the following hierarchy:

  • Fruit
    • Pome
      • Apple
      • Pear

Which is imported as
