2922289 - Queries Related to Removing and Adding Countries in Project Scope

Symptom

You have a requirement to descope few countries and subsequently you have to remove certain values or restore defaults for some of the Fine tuning activities which have dependencies and may cause inconsistencies.

Now, you are concerned whether re-scoping these countries would again add these removed/restored values from the activities automatically or not.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  • Go to Business Configuration work center
  • Go to Implementation Projects view
  • Select Edit Project Scope
  • Select/Deselect the country (based on whether scoping or descoping)
  • Go to Review Step and Finish

Cause

Referenced values/data from the Fine tuning activities has to be removed in order to avoid technical inconsistencies.

Resolution

The records referring to standard entities, such as depreciation code XYZ, which gets selected and deselected out of the workspace with scoping/descoping the countries and with descoping, the references would be removed so that the records with Z* codes have dangling references and are thus no longer consistent. This means that in order to be able to descope the countries, you have to delete all these Z* records.

In case you re-scope one or more countries specifically, e.g. Spain, the referenced values, such as e.g. depreciation code ES**** would come back into the workspace automatically with scoping.
However, the Z* records, would indeed have to be added again manually.

XYZ represents Depreciation code in general.

ES**** represents Depreciation code for Spain. (country specific)
