Symptom
Error 4973 while changing the lock scheme of a table to DOL
4973 is raised with one of three different states.
- State 1
- State 2
- State 3
Msg 4973, Level 20, State 3:
Server 'ASE', Line 1:
Row size (1646 bytes) exceeded the maximum row size limit (1598 bytes) for data
only locked format while changing the lock scheme from ALLPAGES to DATAONLY for
object 't1' (ID #) in database 'test' (ID #). The lock scheme for the object was not changed.
The "row size" and "row size limit" values can be hard to understand; these are intermediate values determined as the code is in the middle of converting the row to DOL format.
