2922899 - Errors 15497 and 975 during ASE reboot when sybsecurity is encrypted - SAP ASE 16.0

Symptom

  • When we encrypt the sybsecurity database and reboot the ASE, sybsecuritydb cannot be decrypted properly during boot.
  • Booting ASE with the '--master_key_password' option with password provided, raises the following errors:

Error: 15497, Severity: 16, State: 1
The password for the master key of database 'master' has not been set.
Error: 975, Severity: 17, State: 1
The database 'sybsecurity' is encrypted.
Unable to proceed with the recovery of dbid <31516> because of previous errors.
Continuing recovery with the next database.
***** WARNING: AUDITING CANNOT BE ENABLED DUE TO PROBLEMS WITH THE SYBSECURITY DATABASE. *****

  • The auditing system cannot work properly.
