2926323 - Unable to create a formula in the imported model when column name contains special characters in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

  • The following error occurs in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC): Formula could not be computed:Try rewriting the formula.

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud 2020.8.15 and higher

Reproducing the Issue

    1. Import a file ( like Excel)  to model with a special character in the column name ( ' @ ", \ / ? * [ ] )
    2. Create a formula on any of the measure with a special character in the column name
    3. Click Format and you will get the following error
      Formula could not be computed:Try rewriting the formula.

Cause

This issue occurs due when the column name of your imported file has
the following special characters ( ' @ ", \ / ? * [ ] )

Resolution

Remove the special characters from the column name either in the file to be imported or
in the import windows of SAC
