2926806 - Custom Productive Time Type for Overtime Deducts Hours

Symptom

You have created a custom productive time type to be used by your employees when registering overtime, but this instead deducts hours from the total.
Or

You are unable to see Vacation Hours as expected in Credited Hours of the Time Statement.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Cause

This employee has an exception-based time recording method.

For exception-based time recording method, employees are expected to only record vacation, leaves and special time types — the productive time is automatically registered by the system based on the agreed working hours.

As such, if an employee with exception-based time recording and agreed working hours of 40h/week registers additional 10 hours using a productive time type, the system interprets this registered time is part of the agreed hours, only with a different definition. Instead of recording as 40 hours plus the 10 hours recorded manually, it will record the automatic productive time as 30 hours and use the time recorded manually to complete the 40 hours of the week that were agreed.

Absences are taken into consideration only up to the maximum of Daily Target Hours. Full day absences for exception-based time recorders are calculated for the working time account based on the daily average hours from the employees time profile.

Resolution

Please consider changing the employee to a positive time recording method (working hours are recorded manually by the employee). In this method, overtime recording is supported and works as expected.
