2928209 - Initial or incremental load is failed Build Validation - WFA on HANA

Symptom

This document is applicable for WFA on HANA certified partners only.

While implementing and / or configuring WFA on HANA, you might face some build validation failures in Load Status:

  • sql syntax error: incorrect syntax near
  • Source table has no person id column identified
  • Could not determine HANA_MEASURE for global measure

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Workforce Analytics

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to WFA on HANA Data Factory
  2. Click on Build Fact Data & Cube or go directly to step 3
  3. Go to Load Status
  4. The initial load or incremental load is failed

Resolution

Please go through the Validation Guide available in the WFA on HANA PDC page

After reviewing the guide, in case you still need assistance to implement or configure WFA on HANA, please post your issue in the Questions forum on the PDC community.

We will list below known initial load errors that partners experience when running to help speed up the process:

  • Errors for a new instance:

OLAP Validation: Failed - Calculated column [Workforce.VIEW_WFA_ON_HANA_MANAGERIAL.#CALC_COL_1] is configured incorrectly. <br> Datatype defined : NVARCHAR(3) <br> Error : [259]: invalid table name: Could not find table/view VIEW_WFA_ON_HANA_MANAGERIAL in schema [SchemaName]: line 6 col 40 (at pos 369) (Please see Validator Panel (in Configuration > Global Settings) for more details. )

This is a validation result. Any issue with calculated column defined under the table & column section will be shown as a validation error like above.

Troubleshooting steps-

  1. Follow the error mentioned in the validation and check if the required inputs are provided.

e.g., In above error it clearly says invalid table name: Could not find table/view VIEW_WFA_ON_HANA_MANAGERIAL in schema.

Error occurred executing method DeleteModel: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at com.sap.ndb.studio.sdk.repository.provider.newdbrepository.impl.NewDBRepositoryProvider.checkRepositoryAccessAuthorization() at …

This error occurs while doing clean-up before any initial load. For especially new companies, this clean-up fails with Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Engineering ticket WFA-30521 for permanent fix is already created for this issue.

This issue doesn’t have any impact on the Initial load and can be ignored.

    …

    Cause: Consumer Server Memory issue

Solution: Run with batching turned on. Currently it is required to engage Engineering to add the batch key before running initial load. Therefore a support ticket is needed for the same.

    Steps to enable batching-

    • For internal reference:

      1. Go to WSTWEBAPP -> data object management -> company configuration editor
      2. Add key OlapHanaWriterBatchSize= 5000 for that particular company.
