Symptom

Performing the build of a Development Component on NWDS fails with the following error:

Build failed for <component> in variant "default": Failed to initialize com.sap.tc.buildplugin.DefaultPlugin
com.sap.tc.buildtool.PluginInitException: Failed to initialize com.sap.tc.buildplugin.DefaultPlugin
...
Caused by: java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: ... (Unsupported major.minor version 49.0)

The major version can vary.
