Symptom
Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.
It's not clear how the actual cost rates are calculated. Sometimes, the calculation result is not as expected.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
Calculate actual cost rate with App Actual Cost Rate Calculation - Cost Centers.
Cause
Check Resolution part.
Resolution
The calculation logic and configuration explanation can be found here.
The configuration point for splitting structure is SSCUI 104795 Define Splitting Structure.
Common Issues:
Actual Cost Rate is not as expected:
Exception calculation method: if the cost element is not included into the splitting structure, the splitting will be done by equivalence numbers of activity types. In Cloud, the equivalence number is always 1. So the part of costs will be splitted equally to each activity types.
If some cost elements are not requested to be included into the activity calculation, assign the cost elements into assignment with splitting rule = YA2.
Actual Cost Rate is calculated as 0:
- First make sure the relevant cost elements are assigned correctly into the splitting structure, and with the correct splitting rule.
- Maintain field "Act. price indicator" to "5" in app Manage Activity Types.
- Check in the log of app Actual Cost Rate Calculation - Cost Centers, to see whether there is warning message:
Several assignments were found for the given selection parameters.
Message no. KW683
If yes, adjust the configuration of splitting strucure.
Use the "Sheet Overview" button to find the duplicate assignment easily.
EBDP values considered during actual cost rate calculation
The calculation result may be still not as expected even after previous verification.
Check the posted value on the cost center, then check the Business Transaction field for the entries.
If there is Business Transaction = EBDP, the value will also be considered during calculation.
Check the relevant postings and find the order. Check the settlement receiver for the order. The receiver might be set to cost center.
EBDP means the event-based scenario posted the settlement to the receiver cost center. If by any chance the receiver cost center has been set the same as the production cost center, this situation will happen.
Consider to settle the order to another cost center instead.
