The following occurs in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC):

• Performance is very bad when creating a Date Range filter if the story is based on Live HANA connection and the date contains 9999/12/31 in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) 

• SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise) 2020.8

1. In SAP HANA database, prepare a Calculation View which contains Date dimension with 9999/12/31 date value.
2. In SAP Analytics Cloud, create a live model based on Live HANA connection, which connects to this HANA Calculation View
3. Create a story, add a story filter.
4. Set the filter is based on this Date dimension, and choose Filter by Range
5. Switch to Fixed.
6. Notice browser hangs here for some minutes.
7. Once the full dialog page appears, click the dropdownlist of the Range.
8. The browser hangs again.

This issue is a by design behavior because the date range ends in 9999. The range filter is trying to generate the properly user interface elements for these thousands of years in the browser windows.
Therefore the year dropdown box also contains thousands of year entries. Thus browser needs to spend a huge amount of time to generate these elements and update them when the user interacts with them (e.g. clicking on the drop down box).
