2938473 - Edited baseline details are not updated in the project

You noticed that although a baseline details were changed and activated it has no effect on the actual project.

SAP Business ByDesign

1.A project is created. (A base line is created automatically or manually)

 2. You need to make a change to the original project, so a new baseline is generated and sent to approval (at this time, there are 2 base lines one in approval and another with pending changes

 3. In the new baseline the changes are not accepted but requires an additional change, so you withdraw he base line form approval and then new baseline is edited and resubmitted for approval.

 4. The new baseline is activated and the other lines are obsolete.

Al a new baseline is changed and activated it has no effect on the actual project

Specifically, deviations from the original plan with respect to work planning and scheduling are tracked and monitored by the project manager and project stakeholders using baselines.

When you edit the baseline you shall not have the project base line same as  project, cause in general baseline is an external view of project that you want to get approval  from stakeholder so it may be different than  project.

Project manager shall decide in general what changes are required and also whether approvals is required or not to the base line.

You may use the report :Project Variance by Project Structure Report  to see details of Baseline so that you can have track of such changes which did not reflect in project.

We accept that  this could be required some times and we never had the updation of Baseline on to project thus its a new requirement for us.
