2938956 - Error 696, Severity 21, State 2 on temp worktable after client receive error 1105 in temporary database - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • A user query creates a large temporary worktable and hits Error 1105 State 4 on a temporary database.
  • It is followed by Error 696 with a stack trace reported for a temporary worktable in the ASE errorlog: 

Error: 696, Severity: 21, State: 2
An attempt was made to fetch logical page '858200' from cache 'tempdb_cache1'. Page belongs to database 'tempdb2' (102), object '<Unknown>' (0), index '<Unknown>' (0), partition '<Unknown>' (-1432092673) and not to database 'tempdb2' (102), object 'temp worktable' (-1432092673), index '<Unknown>' (0), partition '<Unknown>' (-1432092673). Restart of ASE will clear the error. Please contact your System Administrator for help.

  Note: The message shows the same objid in multiple places.
