2939037 - Error 706, 707 in memshrink followed by signal 11 at proc__install crashing server - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • ASE errorlog reports errors 706 and 707
  • The errors are followed by a signal 11 at proc__install
  • This leads to an ASE crash as the affected spid holds spinlock "Spinlock Des Upd Spinlocks"
  • The error sequence in the log includes:
    • A full example of errors and stack traces can be found in attached file KBA_2939037_Error_Example.txt

Error: 706, Severity: 20, State: 3
Process 1662 tried to remove PROC_HDR 0x368a23000 that it does not hold in Pss.
Error: 707, Severity: 20, State: 5
System error detected during attempt to free memory at address 0x0...
