2939381 - Sales Phase Cannot Be Deleted in the Sales Cycles and Phases Activity

You are trying to delete a Sales Cycle or Sales Phase on Business Configuration, but you are unable to do it.

When you delete the sales phase under Maintain Sales Phases  the following error occurs: "Value ABC in setting Sales Cycle Phase must also be entered in setting Opportunityphase Save failed" (ABC represents the Sales Phase Code).

When you delete the sales phase under Maintain Sales Cycles the following error occurs: "Value XYZ in setting Assignment of Steps to Opportunity must also be entered in setting Sales Cycle Phase Save failed" (XYZ represents the Sales Cycle Code).

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the Business Configuration work center.
2. Select the Implementation Projects view.
3. Select the First Implementation project and click on the Open Activity List button.
4. Go to the Fine-Tune steps.
5. Open the fine tuning activity Sales Cycles and Phases.
6. Select the Maintain Analysis Phases hyperlink.
7. Select analysis phase ABC.
8. Click on the Delete button.
9. Click on Save.
10. The following errors occur: 
11. Value ABC in setting Sales Cycle Phase must also be entered in setting Opportunityphase Save failed.

This is the expected system behavior.

Once a system is live it is not allowed to delete the Sales Cycles and Phases, since once these code values are maintained they might have been used in several opportunity documents and deleting them would make the documents inconsistent.

You will be able to delete a Sales Phase code if there aren't any documents with this Sales Phase code maintained.

In order to delete a Sales Phase you have to execute two steps. The first step has to be done in the activity Sales Assistant, the second step has to be done in the activity Sales Cycles and Phases.

1. Go to the Business Configuration work center.
2. Select the Implementation Projects view.
3. Select the First Implementation project and click on the Open Activity List button.
4. Go to the Fine-Tune steps.

(1) Activity Sales Assistant

1. Open the Sales Assistant activity.
2. Select the Assign Activities to Sales Phases hyperlink.
3. Mark the entry for sales cycle XYZ with sales phase ABC in the Available Sales Cycles with Sales Phases table.
4. Delete the entry for sales cycle XYZ with sales phase ABC.
5. Save and Close.

(2) Activity Sales Cycles and Phases

1. Open the Sales Cycles and Phases activity.
   
   
2. a) Maintain Sales Cycles
1. Select the Maintain Sales Cycles hyperlink.
2. Mark the entry for sales cycle code XYZ in the Define Sales Cycle table.
3. Mark the entry for sales phase ABC in the Assign Phases table.
4. Delete the entry for sales phase ABC in the Assign Phases table.
5. Save and Close

2. b) Maintain Sales Phases
1. Select the Maintain Sales Phases hyperlink.
2. Mark entry for sales phase code ABC in Available Sales Phases table.
3. Delete this entry.
4. Save and Close.
