2940012 - Production Order Numbers are not Sequential or Continuous

During creation of Production Order you notice that the new production order is not sequential with the previously created   production order number.

1. Go to the work center Production Control.
2. Go to the view Production Order
3. Select Show All Production Orders
4. Sort by Production Order
You can notice some gaps from one Production Order to the next one.

If the production order is missing from the system, it means that production order must have been deleted when it was in 'In Preparation'  status.

There is no gap control for production orders. Hence for production orders we do not guarantee sequential numbering or no gap numbering.

However, the number generation for Production  order permits the usage of buffers to avoid wastage of numbers.
Hence, if any production order is deleted, then this order ID can be used up in future for any new production order.
But there will be no duplicate numbering.

Hence you notice that the production order numbering is not sequential as per the creation date.
