2940390 - Many repeated messages "Direct i/o enabled for" device name - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • ASE errorlog reports large number of "Direct i/o enabled" messages
    • Seen for all or most devices and repeated several times for a device
    • Example lines look like:

Direct i/o enabled for ufs file '/dev/sybase/SID/master.dat'
Direct i/o enabled for ufs file '/dev/sybase/SID/data_dev1.dat'
Direct i/o enabled for zfs file '/dev/sybase/SID/data_dev16.dat'
