Symptom
The standard party roles Payer, ship-to, and bill-to are automatically deleted in the involved parties of Sales Quote after the party role Account was selected.
Environment
SAP Cloud for Customer
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Sales.
- Open Sales Quote ABC (ABC stand for the quote ID).
- Go to the Involved Parties.
- Observe: the party role such as Ship-to, Payer and Bill-to are maintained.
- Click Add
- Choose Account
- change and select offer Manager
- Observe: the ship-to, Payer & bill-to has been deleted in the involved parties.
- Error- Please enter a party role bill-to, please enter a party role ship-to, please enter a party role Payer is shown.
Cause
When choosing the role “Account” the system already triggers an update to the backend where basing on the initial account a party re-determination is triggered which causes a loss of the ship-to, etc. because it is tried to derive the ship-to from the “initial” account. We admit that this is an ugly behavior, but currently we cannot avoid this and a correction is definitely not possible short term.
Resolution
This is expected system behavior.
Therefore, the recommendation is always:
1. Change the account on the overview tab.
or
2. When going via involved parties — which we assume is rather an exceptional case — first delete the existing.
Account, then enter the new one.
or
3. If users shall not use the account via involved parties at all maybe using code list restrictions (work center Administrator > General Settings) will help to remove the account from the value help for involved parties.
