2945624 - Project not released after baseline is approved

Noticed that although a baseline is approved the project is not released automatically.

SAP Business ByDesign

• Project is created. (A base line is created automatically or manually)
• Then Base line is approved
• But the Project is still in Planning status

Base line is just a document created to send for approval,( Base line is used to measure and assess project execution. Specifically, deviations from the original plan with respect to work planning and scheduling are tracked and monitored by the project manager and project stakeholders using baselines.)

So even after its approved you may decide to make some more changes in projects and create new Baseline again and thus we don't Release automatically.

also Project manager shall decide in general when to release the project.

You may use the report :Project Variance by Project Structure Report  to see details of Baseline so that you can track Baseline status .

We accept that this could be required some times but we never had the updation of project status when Baseline is activated, thus its a new requirement for us.
