2946447 - Source Logistics Area Cannot be Selected When Confirming a Pick Task

When trying to confirm a Pick Task using a Source Logistics Area where you are certain there is enough Inventory of the relevant Product. However, when you click "Propose Quantities and Logistics Areas" in the confirmation screen, the quantity is proposed, but the Source Logistics Area is not. Instead, the system displays the following error messages:

• Line item 1: Action processed with warnings.
• -----> Determination of source inventory failed for product ABC (ABC represents the Product ID).
• ----------> Inventory in logistics area not available.

Then try to enter the Source Logistics Area directly manually, but the system shows the following error messages after hit Enter button on your keyboard:

• Line item 1: Logistics area XZY not valid (XYZ represents the Product ID).
• -----> Usage of logistics area does not match allowed usages.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the Outbound Logistics work center.
2. Select the Task Control view.
3. Search for the relevant Task ID and select the Confirm button.
4. Choose Propose Quantities and Logistics Areas button, and the system displays the error messages:
   • Line item 1: Action processed with warnings.
   • -----> Determination of source inventory failed for product ABC.
   • ----------> Inventory in logistics area not available.
5. Enter the Source Logistics Area Id manually in the corresponding field, and the system displays the following error:
   • Line item 1: Logistics area 90202-01-03 not valid
   • -----> Usage of logistics area does not match allowed usages

Further when you click the Value Selector of the Source Logistics Area, a new window opens up. In the new window, when you select Result Type as "All results" and Choose Go button, here observe that a red icon is displayed for the selected Source Logistics Area under Result Type. Here see that there is actually enough On-Hand Stock in the Storage Location. When you hover your cursor on the red icon, you observe the message "Inventory retrieval or placement is not allowed, constraints not met".

The Logistics Use has not been maintained for the affected Source Logistics Area, even though the corresponding Process Model specifies the Source Logistics Use as "Storage."

The same Logistics Use must be maintained in the Logistics Area as defined in the relevant Process Model (Logistics Model). Please follow the steps below to do so:

1. Go to the Supply Chain Design Master Data Work Center.
2. Navigate to the Locations View.
3. Select the relevant Site and then choose Edit Layout.
4. Select the relevant Logistics Area.
5. Under Logistics Use section, choose Add Row, and then maintain Storage as Logistics Use.
