2946506 - BASIC Authentication is not working - SAP BTP Neo

Symptom

  • Login with BASIC Authentication method is not working in an application running on the Neo environment.
  • When trying to log in to an application/endpoint using BASIC authentication, you get either:
    • HTTP 401 Unauthorized
    • HTTP 403 Forbidden
    • HTTP 200 OK, along with an HTML page
      • If the call was not done from a browser, you will get the message "Your browser does not support JavaScript or it is turned off. Press the button to proceed"

Hint: If you are not sure whether the application uses Basic Authentication, you can try to access it from a browser. You will get a pop-up on the screen asking for user and password. Example:
