Symptom

  •  DUMP database or DUMP transaction using the config option fails:

dump database testdb using config='test'

Msg 8009, Level 16, State 1:
Error encountered by Backup Server. Please refer to Backup Server messages for details.

  • The Backup Server errorlog reports the following error:

D00: SYBMULTBUF ERROR: Volume validation error: attempt to flush 'D:\ase\ase160sp03plx\devices\./master_2k.dat' returned 5.
