Symptom

  • ASE fails to start up
  • ASE log shows the following error:

Connectivity Library (Directory Control Layer) Error: Error returned by service provider.
Connectivity Library (Directory Control Layer) Error: (InterfacesDriver): Requested server name not found.
Server SYBASE not registered in the interfaces file or directory services.
Cannot start any network listeners.
ueshutdown: exiting

  • Interfaces file looks fine (cat $SYBASE/interfaces)
