2951194 - Fiori notification badge count not updated despite the OData response serves the count

Symptom

Fiori notification badge count not updated despite the OData response serves the count. The below messages are visible in the console:

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 () ...GetBadgeCount()
WebSocket connection to '<host>/sap/bc/apc/iwngw/notification_push_apc' failed: HTTP Authentication failed; no valid credentials available

However that message is wrong since in the Network tab of the browser's developer tools shows that the GetBadgeCount call results in 200 OK with the count in the response body correctly.
