Symptom

The following Guided Answers Decision Tree will help you to resolve problems that you encounter with the SAP NetWeaver AS Java Web Services security and connectivity.

A Web service (WS) is a modular function that can be published, localized and called via a network. SAP Java Web Services framework is the implementation of Web Service stack, whereby deployed applications can call other SAP or 3rd party Web Services. The AS Java applications can expose their services as a Web Service to be consumed.
NOTE: The server side is called “Web Service provider” and the client is called “Web Service consumer”. It is always important to understand on which side the SAP AS Java is involved for troubleshooting purposes.

The following topics are covered in the decision tree:

  • Security concerns
  • Certificate expiration
  • NullPointer Exceptions
  • SOAP faults
