2953533 - Connection to WebDAV Folder Not Working

Symptom

When attempting to configure the WebDAV Folder on a local PC, the credentials are being requested by the system. Despite providing the correct credentials, the connection to the WebDAV Folder cannot be established.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Application and User Management Work Center.
  2. Go to File Input View.
  3. Copy Direct File Access (WebDAV) link for Inbound File (for example: https://myxxxxxx.sapbydesign.com/sap/a1s/cd/fileio/docs/in).
  4. Go to My Computer at the local machine, Choose Add a network location.
  5. Maintain the former copied direct file access.
  6. A pop up to enter the credentials to connect to the WebDAV Folder will be displayed.
  7. Enter the credentials and again a pop up for Username and Password will be displayed.

The connection to the WebDAV Folder cannot be properly established.

Or the below error message is displayed:

\myxxxxxx.sapbydesign.com@SSL\DavWWWRoot\sap\a1s\cd\fileio\docs\in is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
A device attached to the system is not functioning.

Cause

Even though credentials are being used, the WebDAV location requires the ByDesign Certificate. However, a valid certificate is not installed on the local PC.

Resolution

The certificate for the WebDAV connection needs to be downloaded by following the below steps.

  1. Go to the Application and User Management work center.
  2. Go to the Input and Output Management view.
  3. Select the Communication Arrangements subview.
  4. Select the Communication Arrangement Access Documents via WebDAV.
  5. Select Edit Credentials.
  6. Select the tab Certificate.
  7. Select Create and Download Key Pair.
  8. Choose a location and filename for the exported Certificate.
  9. Set a password to protect the exported Certificate.

Then the certificate must be imported to the computer by following the below steps.

  1. In the Windows Search bar field, insert Internet Options.
  2. Select the Content tab.
  3. Click on Certificates.
  4. Click on Import.
  5. Follow the steps in the Certificate Import Wizard and Choose the previously exported Certificate file.

The certificate will be properly imported.

Then perform the connection again to the WebDAV Folder, a prompt for certificate selection should appear. Ignore the Prompt and then enter the Credentials. The connection will be properly set.
