'Mapping for Data Type APC_S_REGION_CODE, Code ABC, and Local Context XYZ does not exist' (where ABC represents a region code and XYZ a Local Context code).

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Master Data Replication Work Center.
  2. In Import, click Employees view.
  3. Search for any employee.
  4. Click Actions > Upload Data from Employee Central.
  5. Note: There will a failed entry with selection date DD.MM.YYYY HH:MM.

Cause

There are missing code list mappings for RegionCode.

Resolution

You need to maintain these mappings in the Business Configuration work center:

  1. Go to Business Configuration work center.
  2. Click Overview view.
  3. Select Activities.
  4. Search for Code List Mapping for Integration with External Applications and Solutions and open it.
  5. Click Maintain Code List Mapping.
  6. In section Code List mapping Definition, filter for RegionCode as Local Data Type Name.
  7. Select Employee Central Integration.
  8. In section Code List mapping Rule, click Add Row.
  9. In section Code List Mapping Rule, maintain the Mapping Rule and the Local Context.
  10. In section Code List Mapping, maintain Local Code, External Code, Description, etc.
  11. Click Save.

In case the Local code/ External Code is not maintained in Code List Mapping, follow the below steps as it needs to be maintained in the Regions fine-tuning activity as well.

  1. Go to Business Configuration work center.
  2. Click Overview view.
  3. Select Activities.
  4. Search for Regions.
  5. Click it.
  6. Click Add Row.
  7. In selection, maintain the Country/Region, Code and Region Description and save the changes.

Once the changes are made maintain the same in Code List Mapping.

Note:

  • In the second step related to Local code/ External Code not maintained, it is not mandatory to maintain the exact same description as what is received from Employee Central. It is possible to maintain any description (within 20 characters limit) which will help to identify this region code with this description within SAP Business ByDesign. This is not going to impact integration in any way.
  • The exact code from Employee Central needs to be maintained for successful processing.
  • This is the mapping which is required during employee query and replication from Employee Central. Also, it can have length up to 40 character which is sufficient for most use cases.
