2956209 - Error when selecting a Project Task in a Sales Order

Symptom

When you enter a project task in a Sales Order, you are facing this error message:

"Item A: Project task Z does not belong to project ID Y".

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign.

Reproducing the Issue

  • Work Center Sales Order
  • View Sales Order
  • Select the sales order you wish to edit (Example: Sales Order 1234).
  • Go to "Items" Tab
  • Click "Add Row"
  • Enter a Product ID
  • Under Details view, add the Project Task "Z".

No result displays, but if you force the entry, this error message will pop up:

"Item A: Project task ID Z does not belong to project ID Y".

Cause

You have maintained the project task Y on another Item on this Sales Order.

It is not possible to maintain 2 different project tasks on the same Sales Order as only one is permitted.

Resolution

You need to create a new Sales Order and maintain Project Task Z on it.
