Symptom
Accumulated values do not show the correct values in chart visualisations or reset to the default measure at the start of the new year.
Environment
- SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise) 2020.14.11
Reproducing the Issue
Option 1)
- Create a story based on a model or data source with numerical values (measures) to build a running total of the accumulated values.
- Create a Combination Column & Line Comparison Chart with the following structure in the builder panel:
- Column Axis - Standard Measure i.e sales
- Line Axis - Aggregated Calculation based on this Measure i.e total sales
- Dimension - Date with a drill level > 3 to showcase month by month comparison
- Create a calculation of type aggregation sum
- Observe that accumulated values do NOT show at all and simply represent the same values as the measures in the Column Axis
Option 2)
- Create a story based on a model or data source with numerical values (measures) to build a running total of the accumulated values.
- Create a Combination Column & Line Comparison Chart with the following structure in the builder panel:
- Column Axis - Standard Measure i.e sales
- Line Axis - Aggregated Calculation based on this Measure i.e total sales
- Dimension - Date with a drill level > 3 to showcase month by month comparison
- Create a calculation of type restricted measure with the selection context the date with YTD (year to date) filters.
- Observe that the values accumulate for each quarter (q1, q2, q3, q4) and then at the start of a new year the accumulation is reset.
Cause
This is currently a limitation with SAP Analytics Cloud.
Resolution
This feature is proposed to be included in the 2021 roadmap.
