2966246 - Unable to create a universe or Web Intelligence document based on the Snowflake database

Symptom

  • Various problems creating a universe or Web Intelligence document based on the Snowflake database

  • Snowflake does not return data, fetch fails but the query completes on the Snowflake database
  • The WIPS Trace logs show a long Wait time
  • The problems appear for both JDBC and ODBC relational connections

  • Let the document complete fully to capture the error on JDBC connections:  creating a Web Intelligence document and refreshing it or creating a new universe connection in Information Design Tool and testing it returns errors. Looking in the logs, the following error appears:

            EXCEPTION [JDBC|Snowflake|ID:1340434329]com.sap.connectivity.cs.java.OpenJob{com.businessobjects.connectionserver.Job}.Execute: [com.sap.connectivity.cs.java.drivers.DBDError:

JDBC driver internal error: Max retry reached for the download of #chunk0 (Total chunks: 9) retry=10, error=net.snowflake.client.jdbc.SnowflakeSQLException: JDBC driver encountered communication error. Message: Error encountered when downloading a result chunk: HTTP status=403.

  • For ODBC connections, in Information Design Tool, creating a universe connection tests ok, however when creating a Data Foundation, no tables appear when expanding the database list. Tracing the workflow shows a general error:

            java.lang.RuntimeException: com.sap.connectivity.cs.remoting.DBDError: [Snowflake][Snowflake] (25)
