2968838 - Dashboard Issues When Using Hierarchy

Symptom

When using a Dashboard, it's observed that the results change in an unexpected way when expanding the hierarchy for one of the report results.

Environment

  • SAP Cloud for Customer

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the work center Analysis and the view Dashboards.
  2. Open the Dashboard ABC (ABC represents the Dashboard name).
  3. In the table results, expand the hierarchy for any record.
  4. The results in the Dashboard change, and the record which you expanded the hierarchy goes away.

Cause

The report being used for this Dashboard has Conditions applied to it on the report level. When the hierarchy is expanded in Dashboard level, the Report Conditions will be disabled due to compatibility issues, therefore changing the results.

Resolution

Currently, it's not recommended to use hierarchy with conditions in the same report for Dashboard consumption. Our development team is currently working to enhance the compatibility for this scenario. However, there's not a deadline that can be provided for this enhancement at the moment, since it involves major changes in the product coding and complex test scenarios.

As an alternative to the Conditions in report level, a new key figure can be created replicating the same conditions that were applied in report level. Then, the newly created key figure can be used in report. This allows you to avoid the Conditions in report level and should enable using hierarchy in Dashboard level without changing the results.
