Symptom

  • You have a Java based application running on HANA Database e.g. Process Orchestration (PO), AS Java, Solution Manager
  • You have configured System Replication in HANA to allow a failover from Primary to Secondary or vise versa
  • When testing the failover, the Java engine may become unresponsive or inaccessable. A restart may be required to get it working again.
  • In the Java application traces e.g. the defaultTrace file you may see errors like below:
    • [EXCEPTION]

Caused by: com.sap.db.jdbc.exceptions.SQLNonTransientConnectionExceptionSapDB: Internal error:Routing from secondary to primary system is not allowed.
  • You may observe errors relating to Process Orchestration (PO) message processing, such as:
    • The EOIO sequence may stop processing. Reason: com.sap.sql.exception.OpenSQLNonTransientConnectionException: Internal error:Routing from secondary to primary system is not allowed.
    • Failed to check for duplicate entry. Reason: com.sap.sql.exception.OpenSQLNonTransientConnectionException: Internal error:Routing from secondary to primary system is not allowed.
