Symptom
You might not have received the email system notification from your Tenant about Certificate Renewal.
Context: the tenant certificate validity check runs in the tenant on the first day of each month, this is automatic. If the expiry date of the certificate is between 60 and 90 days before renewal, a first notification is created informing the key users that the certificate will expire soon. The renewal will happen on the first day of the following month.
Environment
SAP Cloud for Customer
Reproducing the Issue
Use case example: you should have received a Notification from your Tenant regarding Renewal of Mandate Certificate or Mandate User Certificate (M-User).
Cause
One or more missing configuration might be preventing you to get the e-mail Notification from Tenant:
- The Business Task Management element for the Business Configuration is not set in the scope for the related system. Please refer to screenshot attached.
- The notifications are assigned to any Admin user that has access to the Application and User Management Work Center.
- The notification will then be visible in the notification window in the Tenant UI. The business user must subscribe to the notification to receive an email notification.
Resolution
To check the Scope Question:
- Go to the Business Configuration work center.
- Go to the Implementation Projects view.
- Select the First Implementation Project and click on Edit.
- Jump to step 4 - Question.
- Drill down to Built-in Services and Support > System Management > User and Access Management.
- Check In Scope box for the question: You can use business task management for user and access management.
To set the required assignment to Admin User:
- Go to the Administrator work center.
- Go to the General Settings.
- Go to the Business User.
- Select and open the Admin User desired.
- Click on Edit and Access Right.
- Switch to the tab Work Center and View Assignment.
- Check the box for assignment of Application and User Management Work Center.

From SAP side, we have delivered a background job which run on first day of every month and then it checks the expiry of the tenant certificate. If the tenant certificate is going to be expired in next 3 months then it just creates a notification to customer stating- tenant certificate is going to expire and will be renewed automatically. If the tenant certificate is going to expire in next 62 days then it will renew the certificate and raise the notification for the same.
- If a capability is to be given to the user, to subscribe for the email for a task notification, so that email notifications are received, the first BAC element should be scoped (refer to 2462503).
