2972850 - All reports fail to schedule to email using Office365 from BI Platform

Symptom

  • All reports fail to schedule to Office365 via email with the following errors:

    Without SSL : "login error. [CrystalEnterprise.Smtp]: [Authentication failed with [Login] authentication protocol. Return code: [SMTP 535 - Authentication failed (bad user name and password).].]

    With SSL :"server error. [CrystalEnterprise.Smtp]: [SSL negotiation has failed during setup of the SMTP server connection, please ensure your SSL configuration is correct on both the client and the server.] "

  • Testing with OpenSSL as per KBA 2960167 - Unable to schedule reports to Office 365 using SMTP results in the following error:

    Command:
    openssl s_client -starttls smtp -connect smtp.office365.com:587 -CAfile "D:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64\certificate.crt"

    Output:
    verify error:num=20:unable to get local issuer certificate
