2973420 - Clarification on the New "About Me" and "My Name" Features

Symptom

This article clarifies the changes made to "About Me" and "My name" features in the b2011 release.

Reproducing the Issue

Cause

Applet support is gradually being removed from desktop browsers. That is why in Google Chrome the features are no longer available, while in Internet Explorer they are.

All major browsers are ending support for recording applets embedded in a web page.

This will be fixed in b2011 release, when those will be replaced with an upload option, so that employees can upload their own recording, instead of doing it by using the Flash Player.

Resolution

As of b2011 release, these two features will be changed to allow the upload of video or audio file into "About Me" and "My Name" features, in order to help people know about you and how to pronounce your name.

Please note that the recording of video and audio will no longer be available.

What's changed:

The audio file for "My Name" cannot be larger than 2 MB, while the file for "Show Me" cannot be larger than 50 MB.

The supported file formats are:

My Name = audio/mp3, audio/x-m4a, audio/*
Show Me = video/mp4, video/x-m4v, video/*
