Resolution

1.   What will happen for Customers using Legacy Goal Management? Does SAP still support them on their issues?

Legacy Goal Management is in "End of Maintenance" with the 1H 2024 release which means SAP does not fix bugs or deliver patches for Legacy Goal Management. SAP will continue to answer your How To questions via Customer Community Performance & Goals Forum.

We strongly encourage you to adopt Latest Goal Management for your business scenario. Manually upgrading to Latest Goal Management cannot be undone. You cannot revert back to an older version. Please ensure you've reviewed Implementing and Managing Goal Management - Working with the Latest Goal Management prior to the upgrade. You can also review Upgrading to Latest Goal Management – Cycle Planning & Preparedness – Best Practice Approach for tips on starting the process.

All customers still using Legacy Goal Management until 1H 2025 will be upgraded automatically with no opt-out. For the most up-to-date information, you can review Goal Management Opt-Out in 1H 2024 & Universal Planned on 1H 2025

2.   Do customers have the option to be excluded from the Latest Goal Management upgrade in 1H 2025?

Customers with Development Goals enabled that have not migrated from Job Description Manager (JDM) to JBP or Talent Intelligence Hub (with Growth Portfolio enabled) will be excluded from the universal push in the 1H 2025 standard release. Latest Development Goal plans that rely on adding competencies and/or skills MUST have either Job Profile Builder (JPB) or Talent Intelligence Hub (TIH) enabled.

Customers who meet the exclusion conditions are highly encouraged to upgrade from JDM to TIH for managing competencies. Once you've upgraded to TIH, you can then upgrade from Legacy Goal Management to Latest Goal Management which includes both Performance Goals and Development Goals.

3. Can I revert/rollback the Latest Goal Management if I manually upgrade?

Customers who manually upgrade to Latest Goal Management cannot rollback or revert. We are not offering the option to customers to revert back to legacy GM.

4. How customer convert GM template with group goal after Latest GM upgrade?

The one-click conversion is not supported but the team goals can cover and require manually "migration" of the group goals into team goals. We recommend the customers that were using group goals may start using Team Goals to support the same business process.

5.How can customer increase the Char limit for the Goal fields(eg:Goal name,Goal description etc)?

Customer can adjust the character limits to 4,000 for descmetriccomments, and custom field IDs of the textarea type with changes in the Goal template. However recommended limits of 1,000 and 2,000 remain as best practices.

Goal name however will remain unchanged at 500 characters. This is because of the current design architecture we have for goals where it does not allow many characters to be displayed on the UI (card view, header section).

6. Customer is using Tasks or targets of subgoals in the Legacy GM.What will be the impact after the upgrade?

Customer can use the Milestones table which should be able to cover similar functionalities as the target and tasks table.Kindly reach out to your partners to make the required changes in the template.

If you want to continue using those data, go to Report Center to export the data, and then back up the data. After you've converted the template, use the admin tool Import Performance Goals to import the data as milestones. Only this way, legacy tasks or targets are converted to milestones so as to be visible in the latest Goal Management.

7.After the upgrade to Latest GM,users are unable to edit the Goals in PM form.

If the customer is using latest Goal Management, ensure users have both the "create" permission in the goal plan template and the role-based permission for the goal plan template. For more details, refer the KBA:3420104
