2980276 - How to avoid the billing value in the 'Billing Plan' tab exceeding the actual net value of a sales order item?

Symptom

In the 'Billing Plan' tab of a sales order item, the billing value is allowed to be greater than the actual net value of this sales order item.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

1. Open the 'Create Sales Orders - VA01' app.
2. Create a standard sales order with an item category whose billing plan type is '90' (SD Baseline Milestone Billing).
3. Double-click the item to display item details.
4. In the 'Billing Plan' tab, when the billing rule is '1' (Milestone billing on a percentage basis) or '2' (Milestone billing on a value basis), the billing value is allowed to be greater than the actual net value of this sales order item.

Cause

When the billing rule is '1' (Milestone billing on a percentage basis) or '2' (Milestone billing on a value basis), the billing value is allowed to be greater than the actual net value of this sales order item. This is standard system design to meet various business requirements.

Resolution

To avoid the billing value in the 'Billing Plan' tab exceeding the actual net value of a sales order item, please always add a billing plan with billing rule '3' (Closing invoice in milestone billing). This date can clear the differences caused by other billing rules and avoid excessive billing.
