2982590 - Error Message 'Employees with Additional Business Partner roles cannot be removed' in Personal Data Removal

You want to remove personal data from an employee using Personal Data Removal, however, the Removal Run fails with an error message in the application log:

Employees with additional Business Partner roles cannot be removed.

SAP Cloud for Customer

1. Go to the Data Protection and Privacy Work Center.
2. Go to the Personal Data Removal view.
3. Search for Employee ID ABC (ABC is the Employee ID that you want to remove the personal data).
4. Select this employee and click Remove Data.
5. In the next window, select employee and click Delete (a message that the removal process has begun is displayed).
6. In Data Protection and Privacy Work Center, select the Common Tasks view.
7. Open the Administer Data Removal Runs option.
8. You will see that the Removal Run has failed and in the application log, error message "Employees with additional Business Partner roles cannot be removed" is displayed in the Results tab.

Business Partner exists not only as an Internal Employee but has the role contact-person in addition.

Firstly, it is necessary to remove this Business Partner in its role as a Contact-person within the Personal Data Removal, by doing the following steps:

1. Go to the Data Protection and Privacy Work Center.
2. Go to the Personal Data Removal view.
3. Select All Contacts and search for Contact with the same ID as the Business Partner.
4. Select this contact and click Remove Data.

Once this job is completed successfully, you will be able to reschedule the deletion of the Employee data.

Rescheduling should be possible by choosing Administer Data Removal Runs option, under Common Tasks view in Data Protection and Privacy Work Center, by identifying the previous deletion run of the employee (which failed) and scheduling it again.
