2985092 - Error "Business Feature 'Multiple Channels' Exempts Sheet 'Collaboration'" In Migration of Customers

Symptom

You are trying to update Document Output Channels in Migration of Customers using the "Enhance already existing records" migration mode, but the following error message is raised in the Simulate Import step:

Business Feature 'Multiple Channels' exempts sheet 'Collaboration'
Business Feature 'Multiple Channels' is in scope

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Business Configuration Work Center.
  2. Access the Overview view.
  3. Select Activities in the dropdown list and search for Migration of Customers.
  4. Open it and select the option Migrate customers using the migration tool (it will open a new browser tab, for Data Migration tool).
  5. Select the desired file and click Execute Migration > Execute Migration Step-by-Step.
  6. Try to do step 3 - Simulate Import.
  7. You will see two error messages: "Business Feature 'Multiple Channels' exempts sheet 'Collaboration'" and "Business Feature 'Multiple Channels' is in scope."

Cause

The error message is thrown because the scoping question "Enabling Multichannel for Document Output" is scoped in Business Configuration. In this case, as the Multiple Channels feature is scoped, the Collaboration sheet becomes unusable, as this sheet only allows upload of one collaboration channel at a time.

Due to technical constraints, it is not possible to hide this tab in Data Migration tool, so instead, you receive the error message 'Business Feature 'Multiple Channels' exempts sheet 'Collaboration''. This essentially means the Collaboration sheet cannot be used.

Resolution

Please note that the enhancement of Collaboration data cannot be done through the Migration tool. Collaboration data can only be entered with the "Add new records" migration mode when creating new accounts (in which case, if the Multiple Channels feature is activated, you should use the Collaboration Multichannels and Document Output Channels sheets instead of the Collaboration sheet).

Furthermore, updates of existing records are not possible through Data Migration tool or Mass Data Maintenance in this scenario. If you want to update existing data, this can only be done through web service.
