Symptom

  • Checkpoint process is hanging on the invalid buffer after ASE reported Error 834 with the invalid status:

Error: 834, Severity: 20, State: 3
Illegal attempt to clean buffer: BUF=0x0x0000000beff5d848, MASS=0x0x0000000beff5d848, Buf#=0, page=0x0x000000039622c800, dbid=6, Mass vdevno=4, vpage=2042246, Buf lpage=2037126, Mass stat=0x5010001, Buf stat=0x2, size=2048, cid=0 ('default data cache'), Pinned xdes=0x0x00000001bdb36a70, spid=1956.

  • The error is followed by a stack trace that includes the following functions:
