Symptom

  • Error reported in ASE errorlog:

kernel  Spid <nr> has exceeded its timeout value while issuing a write for virtual device <nr> ('<ASE device name>'). A system call has not responded for <X> seconds, and Adaptive Server will be impacted until it returns. Contact your operating system vendor for assistance.

  • Messages in operating system log:

<Date and Time> <hostname> kernel: XFS: dataserver(<PID>) possible memory allocation deadlock size <Y> in kmem_realloc (mode:0x250)
