2997857 - Error 'During run the error 'Application runtime exception; report an incident' occurred' for Balance Carryforward Run

When executing Balance Carryforward Run AAAA-BB-CCCCCCCC, error occurs: 'During run the error 'Application runtime exception; report an incident' occurred'. (AAAA-BB-CCCCCCCC stands for the Balance Carryforward Run ID)

SAP Business Bydesign

1. Go to General Ledger work center.
2. Go to Balance Carryforward view.
3. Show All Balance Carryforward Runs.
4. Select Run ID AAAA-BB-CCCCCCCC and click Log Result.
5. Go to tab Messages.

The error is shown: 'During run the error 'Application runtime exception; report an incident' occurred'.

Changes were made to rounding places of currency TWD, from 0 decimal places to 2 decimal places or the other way around in the middle of a year, this will lead to data inconsistency which means that some of the documents are posted with 0 decimal places and some are posted with 2 decimal places.

This issue can also happens to currencies like Swiss Francs (CHF), Indian Rupee (INR) and New Taiwan Dollar (TWD), because the rounding values for currencies Swiss Francs (CHF), Indian Rupee (INR) and New Taiwan Dollar (TWD) can be modified anytime.

First, check the change history of activity Currencies via below path:

1. Go to Business Configuration work center.
2. Go to Reports view.
3. Open report Configuration Change History.
4. Navigate to tab Fine-Tuning Settings.
5. Select All Activities and filter Currencies in the Fine-Tuning Activity.
6. Click Download Change Details.

Check the downloaded Excel file and find that the decimal places of TWD have been modified on DD.MM.YYYY in the middle of a year (DD.MM.YYYY is the date);

Second, the following steps can be executed for correction:

1. Reverse all the documents that have been posted on or after DD.MM.YYYY.
2. Change the TWD back to the original decimals that is used in the beginning of the year.
3. Repost all the reversed document again.

Then, once the Balance Carryforward Run is executed there will be no such errors again.
