2999630 - Error: Activity on DD.MM.YYYY Invalid / Activity not valid on DD.MM.YYYY When Recording Time in ESS

You have setup positive time recording with terminal integration. You observed that the system doesn't fetch the correct time type DE0001 automatically when creating new times entries for (project) time recordings, even though the time type is active in ESS. After selecting it manually and clicking on Ok and then clicking on Save or Release, an error occurred. Error:

Activity on DD.MM.YYYY invalid.

or

Invalid / Activity not valid on DD.MM.YYYY

1. Go to Home work center
2. Click on Self-Service overview
3. Click on Edit Time Sheet
4. Click on Add Time Entry
5. Enter Work Package task
6. Note: Time entry is blank or incorrectly preselected
7. Enter time type manually if possible
8. Click on Ok
9. Click on Save or Release

As per current system behavior Time recording method - Positive with Terminal Integration is designed to be used in scenarios where external terminals are used for recording clock-in and clock-out time which can be used for checking the total time spent by a employee against planned time.

Change this time type to e.g. Positive and this might be sufficient to avoid the error.

The following info might be helpful as well:

• If total time spent is less than planned time or if there is any discrepancy in clock-in and clock-out data of an employee, then it is shown in Time Administration work center > Messages view.
• If employees wish to record any time recording against a project that is just considered time allocation to a project, this time will not be counted while calculating the time calculated against the planned time.

Positive time recording with terminal integration is using e.g. DE1100. This time type is defaulted for project time recording in a case which has a time type category of time allocation. System will always try to use DE1100. Currently this defaulting cannot be changed via any configuration. The system is not defaulting to another time type as it is not enabled for the Time sheet.
