How is the price variance calculated in the Monitor Purchasing Info Record Price History app?

Environment

SAP S/4 HANA Cloud

Reproducing the Issue

Open the Monitor Purchasing Info Record Price History app, and enter the necessary search criteria like material, plant, etc..... and press "Go".

Under the variance column different values are displayed for the different periods, and it is not clear how are these calculated.

Cause

 This is the formula that is used:

[(Price in current Date – Price in preceding Date)/Price in preceding Date]*100

Consider the below example:

Price variance
                                                   

According to the above, the second variance of 200 USD is calculated like this:

[(60-20)/20]*100 = 200 USD
