3000491 - Error Message: Inventory ID Already Exists; Enter a Different Inventory ID

When you try to assign Inventory ID PQR to Fixed Asset XYZ-0, an error message appears:

"Save failed
Inventory PQR already exists; Enter a different inventory ID". (PQR represents the Inventory ID, XYZ-0 represents the Fixed Asset ID.)

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the Fixed Assets work center.
2. Go to the Fixed Assets view.
3. Search for Fixed Asset XYZ-0.
4. Press Edit, then select the Master Data tab.
5. Select the Individual Material sub-tab.
6. In the Inventory ID field, enter PQR.
7. Press Save.

An error message appears:

"Save failed.
Inventory PQR already exists; Enter a different inventory ID."

The Inventory ID PQR is already used for another Individual Material. This Individual Material might also be with status In Preparation. Since Inventory ID must be unique the system raises the error message.

To check which Individual Material is assigned to the Inventory ID PQR

1. go to the Fixed Assets work center.
2. Go to the Fixed Assets view.
3. Open the advanced search.
4. In the Inventory ID field, click in the value help.
5. Type PQR in the search field.
6. Execute the search.

You can now see the Individual Material ABC (ABC refers to the ID of the Individual Material) that is assigned to Inventory ID PQR.

You can delete the Inventory ID using the steps:

1. Go to the Supplier Invoicing work center.
2. Go to the New Invoice Without Purchase Order common task.
3. Select the item with row ID 1.
4. Maintain Account Assignment Type as IMAT - Individual Material.
5. In the Individual Material field, type ABC.
6. Double-click the Individual Material ABC.
7. Select Edit.
8. Remove the Inventory ID.
9. Press Save.

Now you will be able to add the same Inventory ID in the Fixed Asset.
