3004247 - ICF service node <external alias name> is not active

Symptom

When using an external alias, the error "ICF service node <external alias name> is not active (see SAP Note 517484)" occurs.

The error message is misleading, because external aliases cannot be activated or deactivated.

After recreating the alias, it may work for a short period of time, but then the issue reoccurs.
