3005089 - BACKUP: Backup Error "The 'CreateFile' call failed" when dumping a database to an existing windows pipe.

Symptom

  • Errors when dumping database to a windows pipe which has already been created
     
    dump database model to "\\.\pipe\mypipe"
     
    Backup Server: 4.172.1.4: The value of 'allocated pages threshold' has been set to 40%.
    Backup Server session id is: 35. Use this value when executing the 'sp_volchanged' system stored procedure after fulfilling any volume change request from the Backup Server.
    Backup Server: 4.141.2.40: [12] The 'CreateFile' call failed for database/archive device while working on stripe device '\\.\pipe\mypipe' with error number 2 (The system cannot find the file specified). Refer to your operating system documentation for further details.
    Msg 8009, Level 16, State 1:
    Server 'SAPASE2', Line 1:
    Error encountered by Backup Server. Please refer to Backup Server messages for details.
