3006220 - Error when opening an RFC connection from ABAP environment - 400 Bad Request

Symptom

Connection from the ABAP environment to on-premise systems fail with:

Error when opening an RFC connection (Timed out waiting for tunnel to open for tunnelId account:///...)

Cloud Connector log (ljs_trace) contains the following messages/error:
