Symptom
When trying to create a calculated key figure ABC using a custom cumulated key figure DEF, you can see the result does not consider the cumulation in the calculation of the key figure ABC.
ABC stands for a key figure ID.
DEF stands for a key figure ID.
Environment
- SAP Business ByDesign
- SAP Cloud for Customer
Reproducing the Issue
- Create the key figures ABC and DEF, where ABC is based on DEF.
- Apply cumulation on the key figure DEF.
- You’ll see that the key figure ABC shows the result without consider the cumulation of DEF.
- Hence, the key figure ABC shows a wrong result.
Cause
The Cumulate feature is part of the local calculation settings of a key figure. It sums up the values after all the calculations of the key figure formula were performed (the cumulation happens just before the number be shown on the screen).
If such a key figure is used in another key figure, the values of the first key figure (DEF in our example) are never shown on the screen, but only used in the calculation of the key figure ABC. This means that the Cumulate setting has no effect on the key figure ABC.
It has similar behavior as the scenario 1 of KBA 2593540, where the order of the calculation affects its result.
Resolution
There is no technical error. The system works as expected.
