3009675 - Unexpected results in advanced formula data action step when dimension contains multiple hierarchies in SAP Analytics Cloud for Planning (SAC)

Symptom

Advanced formula step in data actions are not working as expected.

When executed at a parent level some values may be calculated but the total value does not match the expected sum of the child members.

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise) 2020.20 and later releases

Cause

Issue occurs because one or more dimensions contain more than one hierarchy and the value expected by the end-user is from the non-default hierarchy.

Resolution

To get the expected result add the CONFIG.HIERARCHY parameter in the advanced formula and define the hierarchy or hierarchies for each dimension with more than one hierarchy:

  •  CONFIG.HIERARCHY=[d/DimensionName].[h/Hierarchy],[d/DimensionName].[h/Hierarchy]
